Asset Details

  • Description:
  • Particulate alum via Pickering emulsion as an enhanced COVID‐19 vaccine adjuvant. a) Schematic illustration of PAPE strategy. By “mirroring” clinically approved alum, PAPE “inherited” its acknowledged biosafety profile. Based on particulate alum via Pickering emulsion, PAPE stimulated the cellular uptake and cross‐presentation of antigens for enhanced humoral and cellular responses, offering potential insights for the development of a safe and efficient COVID‐19 vaccine adjuvant. b) SEM image of PAPE. To characterize the morphology via SEM, emulsion droplets were solidified by replacing squalene with paraffin wax. Scale bars of image and inset represent 10 µm and 200 nm, respectively. c) Confocal image and d) schematic illustration of antigen‐adsorbed PAPE. Antigens and the surface alum were labeled with Cy5 (green) and Lumogallion (red), respectively. Scale bars of image and inset represent 10 and 1 µm, respectively. e) Size and f) appearance of PAPE after 0 and 120 days of storage at the indicated temperatures.
